Music: So Much More Than Pleasant Noise
This workshop is to assist parents in not only understanding the music that their child is exposed to but also, how music can be used therapeutically to increase cognitive and emotional well-being. Through lyric-analysis, songwriting and mindfulness based musical experiences, parents will learn skills that work towards increasing self-esteem, improving symptoms of anxiety and depression, and positive self-expression. Aaron will begin by presenting an interactive, music therapy session that program group members are exposed to. Parents will learn the skills presented in music therapy and have to the opportunity topractice these skills. After the presentation, parents will have the opportunity to engage in group discussions and ask Aaron questions about the music that their child engages in.
